Day 1: Sydney to Jervis Bay
Wildlife, Waterways and Wet Coastal Forests

Travelling as part of small group you'll begin a fascinating journey today through a beautiful and very diverse part of Australia. Your friendly MudMaps bushman-guide is a fountain of knowledge and will adopt a flexible itinerary with visits to many unscheduled locations to give you a most appealing personalised tour.

You start by leisurely travelling south along the rugged Pacific coastline. Stopping frequently to explore you may experience the coastal scenery from lookouts like Bulli Pass; life in little fishing & holiday villages like Kiama, and natural wonders like the 'Blowhole' water spout. Passing through rolling hill dairy cattle country and then onto the world heritage listed Jervis Bay National Park. In this park we have the world's whitest sands, wild kangaroos, native wildflowers and brilliantly coloured parrots.

Optional evening spotlight walk to discover some of Australia's nocturnal creatures in the forest. OVERNIGHT HUSKISSON: L/D

Day 2: Jervis Bay to the Capital
Great Dividing Range, Sheep & Cattle country and the Capital - Canberra

Your second day starts by continuing further south through giant native eucalypt forests before turning west to rise up and over the Great Dividing Range and into the dry inland of the continent.

Again stopping frequently at out of the way places you'll also explore Australian bush life in little country towns like Bungendore or Braidwood. You'll see the landscape open out into the typical Australian scene of rural sheep and cattle grazing properties before arriving in Australia's Federal Capital - Canberra.

Before setting out to explore some of the nations treasures like the famous War Memorial and diplomatic Embassies you'll be introduced to this stunning city from the summit of Mt. Ainslie. OVERNIGHT CANBERRA: B/L/D

Day 3: Canberra to Snowy Mountains

Canberra, High Country and the Snowy Mountains

Today we continue our exploration of the capital to places like Parliament House, Regatta Point Planning Exhibition and the Parliamentary Triangle before heading up into the magnificent Snowy Mountains.

Up here in rugged high country we find the huge Kosciusko National Park. Home to the wild bush horses known as 'brumbies', the heritage of the 'Man From Snowy River' and Australia's highest mountains.

The scenery and environment in the high country is absolutely wonderful. Keeping away from the tourist traps we go searching for some of the strange alpine wildlife and birdlife. Passing old bushmen's huts, ghostly alpine eucalypt forests and the famous high plains you'll discover the very top of Australia and a different way of life. Overnighting deep in the heart of the Snowy Mountains. OVERNIGHT KHANCOBAN  /L/D

Day 4: Snowy Mountains to Melbourne
Gold Rush Heritage and Bushranger History

On your fourth day we cross Australia's longest river - the Murray near it's source and wind our way out of the mountains along some back country roads and through townships like famous Corryong.

Arriving down on the fertile plains we find the pretty Tallangatta Lake district and the rich rural gold country which made Victoria the richest state in the world last century.

The historic towns of Yackandandah and Beechworth give a wonderful insight into this era a hundred years ago out in the bush. An optional visit to the Beechworth Museum shows you a fascinating collection of aboriginal artifacts. From here we travel the highway arriving in Australia's second largest city - Melbourne around early evening. FINISH MELBOURNE APPROX 5:30PM: B/L
