One of the most fascinating day tours available in Australia deep in the Australian bush well away from
crowds and the known tourist areas.
The day starts by travelling through the rural countryside of the plains surrounding the city of Canberra
to the foothills of the Brindabella Ranges. After building an open campfire and brewing a cup of billy tea
alongside a little stream we follow old cattle droving trails that wind up into Namadgi National Park and onto
the ridgeline and alpine country of the Australian Alps.
Along the way stopping numerous times to observe the native wildlife at home in their natural environment.
In winter listen to the Lyre-birds calling to each other through the sub-alpine rainforests and during summer
watch out for the majestic wedge-tailed eagles riding the thermals.
Travelling higher into the mountains you are presented with an amazing range of different types of
Australian forest, Dry and Wet Schlerophyll, majestic Alpine Ash and Ribbon-Gum forests and the eerie alpine
Snow-Gums. On the ridgeline you visit places like Mt. Coree, Mt. Aggie and Mt. Ginini for stunning views
literally stretching for hundreds of square miles over the untouched wilderness. To many this reminds them of
the movie - The Man From Snowy River.
Lunching again in the open forest or inside a bush hut we visit a number of locations in the afternoon
depending on clients specific interests. These include the Goodradigbee river, the Brindabella Valley, Mt
Franklin abandoned ski chalet, Bulls Head and Two-Sticks Road. All the time your friendly tour leader is
talking to you about the history of the area, the famous people who lived nearby including Banjo Paterson and
Miles Franklin (authors of Waltzing Matilda and My Brilliant Career respectively) as well as interpreting the
natural environment around you.
This is a tour every international visitor should experience.
