Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Bogong High Plains & Mt Hotham
Today you start a truly magnificent soft adventure journey through the largest National Park system in Australia and the stunning Capital of Australia - Canberra featuring some of the most spectacular and remote regions this country offers. All in the hands of your friendly MudMaps (Canberra-based) guide.

Departing Melbourne via the Highway we make our way onto Mt Hotham and the Bogong High Plains area of the Victorian High Country. As we travel up into the high plain area we discover magnificent scenery overlooking Mt Bogong and Feathertop. We spend the afternoon exploring the area leisurely perhaps on horseback (own cost), bushwalking, exploring high country towns like Harrietville, Bright and Dinner Plain, farming communities or the nearby ski fields. Your friendly MudMaps guide will have worked out your preferences by now and adapted the tour accordingly

OVERNIGHT DINNER PLAIN-OMEO AREA. L/D

Day 2: Snowy River & McKillops Bridge
This morning we make our way onto the high country cattle towns of Omeo and Benambra before travelling the Black Mountain Road through the Alpine National Park in the shadow of the famous Cobberas twin-mountains and onto the Snowy River itself. Admiring the Snowy River N.P. scenery along the way we'll also have an optional stop to explore the Little River Gorge and/or hike to the waterfalls cascading off the Gelatipy Plateau. Another optional visit to McKillops Bridge really does enforce the power that once flowed in the Snowy River. Returning to Wulgulmerang we meet our evening hosts Bob & Esme Boys on their farm "Springs".

OVERNIGHT "SPRINGS' FARMSTAY (Private room with Shared Facilities). B/L/D

Day 3: Snowy Mountains

After a healthy farm breakfast we head down off the plateau through the village of Suggan Buggan and onto the Snowy River where it intersects with the famous Pinch River. Crossing the border at Willis we make our way up and out of the valley through beautiful sub-alpine tall eucalypt forests of Kosciusko N.P. stopping as often as you like to discover places like Jacobs Ladder, the Pilot Wilderness and the Wallace Craigie Lookout. Leaving the park we make our way onto the town of Jindabyne and then onto Australia's National Capital - Canberra.
